Not only does the study of Tap Dance at Stagelight Performing Arts lead students toward becoming more well-rounded dancers, it allows them to gain a greater appreciation for the historical context from which this discipline was born and encourages them to continually fall in love with the art form each time they step through the classroom doors. RHYTHM WORK
Developing precision, control, and musicality in executing rhythmic patterns using the feet.
RUDIMENT SERIES
A structured sequence of fundamental steps and exercises designed to develop foundational skills, technique, and coordination.
CHALLENGING IMPROVISATIONAL EXERCISES
Designed to push dancers beyond their comfort zones, fostering creativity, musicality, and adaptability.
PRESENTATION OF KEY TAP DANCERS
To engage students and deepen their understanding of tap dance history and culture.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Creation and arrangement of sequences of steps, movements, and rhythms to form a cohesive dance piece.

DRESS FOR THE PART
Girls' Dress Code
Girls should wear a leotard and leggings or dance/workout wear (no midriffs showing), hair secured out of the face, and sturdy tap shoes.
Boys' Dress Code
Boys can come dressed in workout wear or essentially anything they can move in, with long hair secured out of the face, and sturdy tap shoes.
All Tap Dance students are required to bring their Tap shoes to each class. We recommend a full sole lace-up tap shoe for all levels of Tap Dance.
Be sure to grab all of the Tap gear you need for class.
LET’S KICK IT UP A NOTCH
If Tap dance has already provided the soundtrack to your child’s life for at least a year, your dancer is likely ready to delve even deeper into this art form with Level II or Level III/IV. Our Tap II and Tap III/IV may be the perfect class for dancers who simply cannot stop moving their feet or doing buffalos across the schoolyard.
As our Level II, and Level III/IV Tap classes require an elevated skill level from our dancers, they are required to have instructor approval to enroll in the class. If your child has completed at least one year of outside training in this discipline, please email the studio at stagelightarts@gmail.com to schedule this assessment with one of our qualified instructors.

Our pricing structure is based on the number of classes each student enrolls for as shown above. Additionally, there is a mandatory registration fee of $30, and we do not offer any sibling discounts.

Yes! Our Tap classes participate in both of our bi-annual Showcases, Winter Showcase and Summer Showcase.
More information about our Showcases are sent through our newsletter emails, our website blog, posted on our social media accounts, and also shown in our in-studio slideshow.
As our Level II and higher Tap classes require a slightly elevated skill level from our performers, they are required to have instructor approval to enroll in the class. For new incoming students, performers who have taken Tap at other studios or schools may be ready for a higher level.

A feature in your Customer Portal–Evaluations! These stars represent the progress your child has made in each of their classes. In the future, you’ll be able to track your child’s skill progression throughout the year, but for the first phase of this rollout, Evaluations are here to help you determine which classes your child is approved to enroll in next season.

We typically allow for a standard six-month grace period surrounding the specified age limits. It is advisable to initially enroll her in a class appropriate for her current age group, especially for the first half of the season.
If the grace period exceeds six months beyond the age limits, or if the instructor advises considering a different age group, instructor approval may be required.
We only offer a one-time free trial per student. Our one-time free trial is available only during our open enrollment periods. Trial classes are subject to availability and do not guarantee a spot in the class.
However, we offer drop-in passes that you can purchase through the Customer Portal to try out as many classes as you’d like.
If you’re interested in purchasing a drop-in pass, you can purchase it through your Customer Portal account under “Merch & More!” (drop-in passes are only available during our open enrollment periods).
