SOFIA CANDELA
Sofia Candela is a former Stagelighter! She is currently residing in Brea, California and is currently attending University of Utah majoring for a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. There is an equity regional theatre on her campus where students get work, and she’s hoping to be a part of the Actor’s Equity Union by the time she graduates! Sofia plans on pursuing a career as a performer in Musical Theatre, and she plans on working hard to make her dreams a reality.
Stagelight Performing Arts is where Sofia started her foundation for all levels of dance with a variety of different dance styles as well as more specific training in other areas. The consistent work and the instructors helped shape her as a performer and prepared her to go into a career in Musical Theatre.
Sofia was with Stagelight for a total of 6 seasons and she studied mostly everything Stagelight could offer such as Acting, Acting for Camera, Musical Theatre, Private Vocal Lessons, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet and Pointe. One of her favorite in-class memories at Stagelight was Tap IV as a whole because of the environment and chemistry between everyone in the class. Another favorite in-class memory she has was from the back-to-back classes she had, Advanced Jazz and Lyrical, with one of the previous Stagelight instructors, Ms. Heather, and she always thought the individual feed back she would receive was amazing and they always had so much fun! Sofia’s favorite on-stage memory at Stagelight was performing one of her favorite numbers she’s ever done, Hey Pachuco, and she can’t think of a better encapsulation of her time at Stagelight.
