SOFIA AYALA

Jazz, HipHop & Combo

Sofia Ayala was born and raised in Orange County, California. Since age 3, she has been dancing in various styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and more. She grew up dancing competitively at Hart Academy of Dance and discovered her love for teaching and choreographing in high school. Sofia was the Captian of Fullerton Union High School’s Dance Production team, and choreographed numerous routines in various styles. Sofia is currently working towards getting her Bachelors of Arts Degree at California State University, Fullerton, and is constantly training to become a professional in the industry. She has a huge love and appreciation for teaching kids dance and helping them find their own safe and happy environment in the studio. Sofia aspires to continue teaching, performing, and choreographing for as long as she possibly can, and is always growing as an artist and individual. Lastly, she is so incredibly grateful to be apart of the Stagelight team!

FUN FACTS

How long have you been working with Stagelight?

I’ve been substituting here for about a year but this will be my first official season working with Stagelight.

What do you love most about your job?

I love how it doesn’t feel like a job!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I really enjoy going to concerts!

What are 3 fun facts about you?

1. I’ve already been to about 10 concerts in 2023 so far.

2. I love collecting vinyl records.

3. Contemporary is my favorite style of dance.

Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?

I’ve loved dancing ever since I was a baby. As i’ve gotten older, it’s become my safe space and a place where I can forget about all of my other worries and embrace my creativity. I want help kids discover that for themselves too.

If you weren’t a teacher, what other job could you see yourself pursuing?

I would love to work in the live music industry, running music venues or even being a tour manager.

What’s your favorite musical, movie, and/or show?

My favorite movie is Almost Famous and Lilo & Stitch
