Students learn about PSA’s by creating their own. Danielle Keaton’s Teen Acting for Camera class all helped write, film, edit & more on this project.
I’d Want My Kids to Hang Out with These Kids
Despite today’s heat, a group of Stagelight kids and their families hosted another lemonade stand to raise money for CHOC Hospital and the upcoming CHOC Walk. Today these kids raised $253 selling lemonade, baked goods, Asics shoes (donated by Asics), rock painting sets (for Team Timmaree Rocks), CHOC Walk coloring books, and more.
I’d want my kids to hang out with these kids. They demonstrate empathy. They demonstrate sacrifice. They include and welcome others. They are our future, and I believe our future is in good hands if we continue to raise up leaders such as these. Bravo to the parents of these kids.
“For 50 years, CHOC Children’s has been steadfastly committed to providing the highest quality medical care to children.” And the CHOC Walk, annually held at the Disneyland Resort in October, is the largest walk for pediatric care in the nation! (choc.org)
Stagelight Performing Arts and Stagelight Productions is joining forces and pairing with Team Timmaree for this year’s CHOC Walk. The goal is to raise $5000. You can help us by donating here and following our Facebook page here.
Team Stagelight Raises $7105 for CHOC
Since July of this year, team captain Meghan Pulley has led Team Stagelight to raise $7105 for CHOC Hospital. Funds were raised through various events hosted by Stagelight children and their parents: lemonade stands, bake sales, garage sales, Facebook contests, and email campaigns. The fundraising experience showed kids the importance of working together for a common goal and provided an outlet for kids to get together socially while contributing to a cause.
This past Sunday, 65 members of Team Stagelight walked (and danced!) the 3-mile trek through the Disneyland Resort with Team Timmaree Rocks. Team Timmaree Rocks is comprised of over 300 team members and raised $18,500 this year! The CHOC Walk allowed Team Stagelight members the chance to reflect on lives lost (including friend of many Stagelight students, Timmaree), embrace the blessings we are given each day, laugh and grow with peers, and contribute to a cause that will continue to change the lives of children.
We are proud to watch our Stagelight students become such amazing humans who are positively impacting their community.
