Angelique Calvillo is an artist / music producer born and raised in Los Angeles. Her singing voice has been featured in shows such as The AMA Awards, The Goldbergs, American Idol, & Diana Ross’s In the Name of Love world tour as opening act. As a music producer and film composer, she has appeared internationally on Discovery+, ESPN, Netflix, Hulu, & Peacock to name a few. With powerhouse vocals, layered harmony, and a cinematic flare, Angelique’s style is unique and sincere.

How long have you been working with Stagelight?

A few years off and on!

What do you love most about your job?

Building confidence in my students is a true joy. Uplighting their self-esteem on and off stage is what I love most about my job.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love all things Disney, building flower walls for my studio, and creating however I can. I have an album out called “FAIRYTALES” that I promote and perform outside of work.

What are 3 fun facts about you?

1. I have had pizza in Italy…

Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?

I grew up around music. My parents, my grandparents, and cousins were all musicians. I absorbed music as a child — it was all around. I have stuck with music as a profession because it is in my soul. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I love it.

If you weren’t a teacher, what other job could you see yourself pursuing?

As well as teaching, I am a film composer. I create the soundscape for movies I’m hired to work on. It’s my favorite thing!

What’s your favorite musical, movie, and/or show?

AHH! So hard. West Side Story is an incredible musical. Favorite fairytale movie: Ever After.
