Tap/Ballet Combo, Jazz, Contemporary/Modern

Allison Bleasdale started dancing with Dixon Dance Studio at the age of seven, taking tap and jazz. Over the next several years, she added more classes like ballet, hip hop, and modern. At 13 years old, she began assisting dance classes at Dixon Dance and was promoted to more advanced classes. As a sophomore in high school, Allison auditioned for and participated in the Rockette Summer Intensive in New York City. As a senior in high school, she was given her own classes to teach in Dixon and started choreographing routines for the studio’s annual recital. After graduating high school in 2012, Allison attended LA Dance Magic’s summer intensive, Final Cut, and auditioned for the LADM dance company. Making it onto the company, she toured with the convention for a year while also teaching at Dixon Dance, taking classes at American River College (ARC), and joining the ARC dance company. In 2014, Allison was awarded LA Dance Magic’s Regional Magic Performer title and competed for the national title that summer. Later that year, she transferred to The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, WA and graduated with honors at the end of 2016. In 2018, she moved to Orange County and started working as a parade performer at the Disneyland Resort, performing in the Frightfully Fun Parade, Elena of Avalor Musical Grand Arrival, Disney’s Viva Navidad, Disney Channel Fan Fest, Mulan’s Lunar New Year Processional, and currently, the Magic Happens Parade. She currently teaches at Showtime Dance Academy in Santa Ana and Reve Dance Conservatory in Rancho Santa Margarita, while still training at studios like OffStage and Millenium Dance Complex of Orange County.

How long have you been working with Stagelight?
My first day was August 7th, 2023!
What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing my students progress in class and perform on stage. I loved my hometown dance studio and performing with my friends, so it brings me a lot of joy to be able to pass on my knowledge and passion to the next generation of dancers!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I’m very active! I love exercising, walking my dog, or doing one of my many hobbies!
What are 3 fun facts about you?
1) I also work at Disneyland as a parade performer!
2) I’m vegetarian and have been for 12 years!
3) I’m very crafty! I know how to crochet, sew, paint, do calligraphy, needle point, embroidery, bake, flower arranging, and I just started doing graphic design!
Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?
I’ve always loved dance and growing up in my hometown studio was such a positive and impactful part of my life. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my dance teachers. I hope I’m half as influential to my students as they were to me. I’m also a strong believer in the healing power of dance; it’s ability to boost self confidence and process emotions. I believe the dance industry needs more nurturing teachers who foster love for the art as well as skill.
If you weren’t a teacher, what other job could you see yourself pursuing?
I would probably pursue graphic design or be a florist!
What’s your favorite musical, movie, and/or show?
I have so many! My favorite musical is Singing In The Rain. My favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. And my favorite TV show is Schitt’s Creek.
