Natalie Chaney

Musical Theatre, Private Vocal, and Piano

Natalie Chaney is a Bay Area native who moved to Southern California to pursue her education in music. She earned her bachelor’s degree from California Baptist University in Commercial Vocal Performance and Music Education and has continued graduate study in Vocal Performance. With nearly eight years of teaching experience, Natalie has worked with students in voice, piano, and other areas of music, along with experience in program leadership and youth education.

Her musical background spans classical, choral, musical theatre, gospel, pop, R&B, and Contemporary Christian music. As a vocalist, Natalie has performed and recorded with a variety of artists through live performances, touring, and studio sessions. She is passionate about creating supportive and engaging environments where students can grow in musicianship, confidence, creativity, and character.

What do you love most about your job?

I love helping my students grow in confidence, both as musicians and as people. Watching them become more comfortable expressing themselves, taking risks, and recognizing their own growth is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my friends and family, traveling, practicing yoga, and focusing on health and wellness.

What are 3 fun facts about you?

I’m a certified Yoga Sculpt instructor!
I traveled to Spain as an international volunteer.
I’m ambidextrous!

Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?

Music provided a safe place for me to express myself growing up, and I want to create that same kind of space for the people I encounter throughout my career. I want my students to feel safe enough to try, fail, grow, and discover who they are without being afraid of making mistakes.

If you weren’t a teacher, what other job could you see yourself pursuing?

I’ve never pictured myself doing just one thing! I’m interested in pursuing Speech-Language Pathology, teaching hot yoga, and eventually starting a business of my own.

What’s your favorite musical, movie, and/or show?

If I’m watching a show, there’s a very good chance it’s a K-drama!
