An original Stagelighter from 2014, Mikayla spent several years studying dance with Miss Alyssa and Miss Lindsey before heading off to college to earn her B.A. in Vocal Music and B.S. in Business Management from Biola University. Over the years, Mikayla has been a substitute teacher of Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Pre-School Dance, Tumbling, and Mommy & Me classes around Orange County, and she is so grateful to be back where it all began as an instructor at Stagelight this season. Mikayla enjoys applying her affinity for storytelling to a well-crafted dance class, and she is always mindful to teach purpose-driven curriculum, no matter the style.
“Quality, non-competitive arts education can be difficult to come by, and Stagelight Performing Arts filled that need in my life almost ten years ago. While I learned a lot about dance as a student at Stagelight, I also learned invaluable lessons about artistry, work ethic, tenacity, and how to be a good human being, and these are the lessons that have followed me into my everyday adulthood. I’m thrilled to be part of the important work being done at Stagelight Performing Arts to bridge that gap and to prepare students to live impactful lives, wherever their journeys may lead.” -Mikayla
